Vintage 2010
We picked our 2010 Zweigelt on the 10th of April at a very low yield of less than 1kg per vine This is Austria s most widely planted red grape variety created in 1922 by Dr Zweigelt from a crossing of the grape varieties St Laurent and Blaufrankisch
Hans’ Winemaking Comments
The Zweigelt spent 15 days on the skins progressing to a wild yeast fermentation before being pressed and transferred into French Barriques for a malolactic fermentation This seductive Austrian has been aged on its fine lees for 13 months No fining, no filtration
Original Tasting Notes
Rich dark violet in colour with flavours of ripe berries, black pepper, spices and some earthy undertones Aromas reminiscent of a basket of ripe stone fruits, damsons, elderberries and dark chocolate A highly complex wine with great acidity, structure and velvety smooth tannins complete this powerhouse
